Evaluations

Understanding how you think, learn, and grow

Children · Teens · Adults
Everett · Santa Clara · Kalispell

Neurodiversity-affirming evaluations for ADHD, autism, learning, development, and cognitive strengths. We look at the whole person, so you leave with answers that fit, and recommendations you can actually use.

A diagnosis is not the goal. Understanding is the goal.

One flat fee for every evaluation, starting November 1, 2026.

What we evaluate

Questions we help answer

Many people come to us with more than one question. Your evaluator builds a single, integrated plan that addresses everything without redundant testing.

ADHD
Attention, focus, organization, and self-regulation, whether ADHD is newly suspected or went unrecognized for years.
Autism
Social communication, sensory experiences, and development, with care for masking and lifelong patterns.
Learning differences
Reading, writing, math, and processing, including the testing needed for school, exam, and workplace accommodations.
Early childhood development
For ages 2 to 5, one evaluation that looks at development as a whole.
Giftedness and twice-exceptional profiles
When giftedness masks the difficulty, and the difficulty masks the giftedness.
Memory and neurocognitive concerns
Changes in memory, attention, or processing speed, assessed in detail in Santa Clara.
Mood, anxiety, and behavior
Part of every child evaluation, and considered alongside every adult one.
Second opinions
When an earlier evaluation did not lead to changes that helped.

Not sure your situation fits? Call us. The initial consultation is partly to help you sort that out before any testing is scheduled.

Our approach

How we work, and why it matters

An evaluation is a relationship before it is a procedure. We hold ourselves to three standards.

Affirming

Identity-first language. Strengths integrated throughout the report, not relegated to a final paragraph. We start from curiosity about how your mind works, not from what is wrong with it.

Thorough

Contemporary measures and careful interpretation. We take longer than some practices do, because shortcuts tend to show up later as a report that does not quite fit the person it describes.

Usable

Plain language alongside the clinical detail, and recommendations across strengths and challenges. A feedback session where everything is allowed to make sense.

A team approach

Most evaluations at OpenWorld are conducted by an assessment team rather than a single clinician. Your licensed assessment lead supervises every case, contributes to interpretation, and joins your feedback session. Testing sessions may be conducted by the lead, a postdoctoral psychologist, or doctoral students and psychometrists working as part of our doctoral training program. You always know who is working with you, and your fee is the same whoever on the team is involved. Meet our team.

How it works

Five steps, usually four to six weeks

From the first phone call through your feedback session, the path is the same. You will know what each step costs before you take it.

1
Initial consultation$300, credited toward your evaluation

You meet with the assessment lead to talk through what you hope to understand, your history, and the evaluation that fits. For children, we also plan who else to hear from, such as caregivers and teachers.

2
Good Faith EstimateYour flat fee, in writing

Within three business days, we email your Good Faith Estimate with the full fee. Review it, then approve by email or phone to move forward.

3
Scheduling50% deposit

Testing appointments often run two to four hours, sometimes longer, and can be spread across days to reduce fatigue. Friday and Saturday sessions are available when scheduling allows.

4
Testing and questionnairesBalance due on the first day

In-person testing, paced for stamina with breaks built in. Questionnaires arrive by email for you and, with your permission, the people who know you or your child well.

5
Feedback and reportIncluded

We walk through what we learned, answer your questions, and plan next steps together. Your comprehensive report arrives alongside the conversation.

What you receive
  • A comprehensive report that identifies strengths alongside support needs, in language you can follow without a glossary
  • Tailored recommendations for home, school, work, and ongoing care
  • Letters of support for accommodations, IEP or 504 meetings, and insurance reimbursement, when relevant
  • A feedback session to talk through what we learned and what comes next
Before you begin

Our guides walk through each step in more detail, including what to bring on testing day and how to prepare your child.

Evaluations and fees

One flat fee, from consultation to feedback

Starting November 1, 2026, every evaluation has one flat fee instead of an estimate built hour by hour. It covers the whole process, and it does not change if testing takes longer than planned. If you’re already scheduled, you’ll pay the lower of your current estimate or the new flat fee. If your evaluation is already underway, nothing changes for you.

For adults

Adult Focused Evaluation$3,000
One main question, such as ADHD, autism, or learning, and the supports that would help. This includes checking for autism if you already have an ADHD diagnosis
Adult Two-Question Evaluation$4,000
Two questions, such as ADHD and autism, or ADHD and a learning difference, and how they fit together
Adult Comprehensive Evaluation$6,000
Three or more questions, brought together into one picture

Teens who are 16 or 17 may be seen for an adult evaluation when that fits their needs better.

For children and teens

Early Childhood Neurodevelopmental Evaluation (ages 2 to 5)$3,500
Your young child’s development as a whole, including autism, intellectual development, language, and daily living skills
Child Focused Evaluation$3,000
One main question, such as ADHD, autism, or learning
Child Two-Question Evaluation$4,000
Two questions, such as ADHD and autism, and how they fit together
Child Comprehensive Evaluation$5,200
Three or more questions, such as attention, autism, and learning

Mood and behavior are part of every child evaluation and do not change the fee.

Add-ons

Motor coordination assessment, sometimes called dyspraxia (Santa Clara and Kalispell)$450
School or classroom observation$750
IEP, IFSP, or 504 meeting attendance$450 per meeting

Santa Clara, with a postdoctoral clinician or licensed psychologist$850
Everett, with a doctoral student or psychometrist$649

Includes a brief interview, a 1.5 to 2 hour session, a written report, and a 30-minute virtual feedback session. Insurance is not accepted for giftedness-only evaluations. Read the IQ evaluation guide.

Priced individually

Memory, neurocognitive, and NFL BAP evaluations in Santa Clara are priced individually. You receive a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule.

Every flat fee includes

Your initial consultation, testing and scoring, your psychologist’s review, a comprehensive report, tailored recommendations, letters of support when relevant, and a feedback session.

If a new question comes up along the way, such as whether autism is also part of the picture, we talk with you first. If you choose to add it, you receive a new estimate and pay only the difference.

Using insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid

Our flat fees apply when you pay for your evaluation yourself.

  • If you have Montana Medicaid or Healthy Montana Kids Plus and are seen in our Kalispell office, we bill Medicaid directly, and these fees do not apply.
  • If you have Medicare, please call us before scheduling so we can explain how your evaluation would be billed.
  • For evaluations, we accept ComPsych with pre-approval. Our Spring Health and Lyra Health partnerships cover therapy only and do not apply to evaluations. With other plans, you can pay the flat fee and request a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Payment and superbills

Payment is processed securely through our online patient portal. A 50% deposit is due when you schedule testing, and the balance is due on your first day of testing. We accept most HSA and FSA cards. If cost is a barrier, please ask; we can sometimes help you find lower-cost options through other providers in the region.

If you have out-of-network benefits, we can give you a superbill after your evaluation to submit for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan and reimbursement is not guaranteed. Services provided by trainees may not be eligible, and we do not contact insurance companies on your behalf. See our billing page for details.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost. Under federal law, health care providers must give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of expected charges before services are provided.

  • You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule. We will give it to you in writing within 3 business days of your request.
  • If you schedule at least 3 business days ahead, you will receive your Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day of scheduling, or within 3 business days if you schedule at least 10 business days ahead.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Please save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which evaluation I need?

When you contact us, our team asks what you hope to understand and recommends the evaluation that fits. If the right path is unclear, a consultation with a psychologist can help, and its fee is credited toward your evaluation.

I need accommodations. Which evaluation should I choose?

If you are seeking accommodations at school, on a licensing or admissions exam, or at work, a learning question counts as one question. Choose the Adult Focused Evaluation if learning is your only question, the Adult Two-Question Evaluation if there is a second, such as ADHD, or the Adult Comprehensive Evaluation for three or more. Your evaluator includes the cognitive and academic testing your accommodation request needs.

I think I might be autistic and have ADHD. Do I need two evaluations?

No. If both are questions, the Adult Two-Question Evaluation looks at them together, so you do not have to choose or pay twice. If you already have an ADHD diagnosis and want to know whether autism is part of the picture, that is one question and fits the Adult Focused Evaluation. Your evaluator builds a single, integrated plan without redundant testing.

Can my evaluation happen by telehealth?

Interviews and feedback sessions can often happen by telehealth. Some testing needs to happen in person, and we will let you know what your evaluation requires before you schedule.

How should I prepare for testing day?

Bring glasses or hearing aids if you use them, and any sensory tools or comfort items that help. Phones are silenced and set aside during testing. Breaks are offered as needed, and sessions over four hours include a thirty-minute meal break. If you or your child are sick, please call to reschedule.

How long until I receive my report?

Most evaluations are completed within 3 to 6 weeks from your initial consultation to feedback, and autism evaluations may take 4 to 6 weeks. Your evaluator will give you a specific timeline at the initial consultation. If you need your report sooner, an expedited report is available for $500.

What if my evaluation takes longer than expected?

Your fee does not change. Extra time or additional testing that helps answer the questions you came with is included. A new question is different. If one comes up, such as autism during an ADHD evaluation, we talk with you first; adding it costs the difference between the two evaluations, and we send a revised Good Faith Estimate before anything new is scheduled.

What if I decide not to continue after the initial consultation?

You pay only our $300 consultation fee, and nothing else is charged.

Will my insurance reimburse me?

It depends on your plan. We can provide a superbill for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, but we cannot guarantee coverage. See our billing page for details.

What if my bill is higher than my Good Faith Estimate?

Because our fees are flat, your bill should match your estimate. If you are ever billed at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill, and we are glad to help sort it out first.
