After our consultation, we’ll send you a clear and detailed estimate outlining the recommended tests that best fit your evaluation goals.

3. Your Evaluation Journey

Once you're ready, our scheduling team will set up one or more sessions (2+ hours) to begin your evaluation. We’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure a smooth experience.

4. Results & Next Steps

Your comprehensive report will include a summary of your results and expert recommendations tailored to your needs. We’ll meet for 30-50 minutes to go over everything, answer your questions, and discuss the best path forward for you.

  • You will receive a link to our OpenWorld portal, which includes the office policies agreement and other forms to complete before your first meeting.

  • For adults, just bring yourself! For a child evaluation, please bring your child to the assessment for a brief interview or observation. Depending on the child’s age, we might meet with the parents/caregivers separately or together for the initial consultation.

    • Initial Consultation: ~50 minutes

    • Testing Sessions: 1.5–2 hours (IQ); 2–3 hours (child/adult ADHD or learning); 4–6 hours (adult neurocognitive or autism)

    • Overall: Report and feedback usually completed within 3–6 weeks (autism/neurocognitive may take up to 4–6 weeks

    • Complete pre‑visit forms via portal (medical/school info, symptom questionnaires)

    • Bring relevant documents (records, IEPs, past test results)

    • Ensure rest, nutrition, and comfort items (glasses, supports)

    • For adult ADHD/learning, follow guidelines about medications (e.g., stimulant pause)

    • Avoid practice tests!

  • The first meeting for the evaluation is typically a consultation session, which is a 50–60-minute meeting with your evaluator to go over your primary concerns and (if applicable) do some initial observations to determine the plan for evaluation. During the consultation, your evaluator will ask questions about your/your child’s mental health, behaviors, development, language, school/work activities, and other domains to start to develop an evaluation plan.

  • All evaluations are different, but you may be asked to complete the following tasks:

    • Questionnaires and interviews (with clients and parents/family input)

    • Computer tasks assessing attention, memory, processing speed

    • Cognitive problem-solving, academic tasks (reading, writing, math)

    • Diagnostic tools like SRS‑2, MIGDAS‑2 for autism, mood/emotion screening

  • Yes—reports are private, shared only with your permission. We can also discuss what accommodations or supports might be helpful from a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming perspective.

  • Yes, Intellectual Quotient (IQ) is tested using measures that are commonly accepted for admissions, including the WISC-V and the WPPSI-IV. Our founder, Dr. Beard was part of a team that developed extended norms for the WISC-V, which are used when needed for giftedness testing (e.g., children who score >99.9th percentile). If your school admission requires a different test, contact us to let us know.

  • We do not provide DDA evaluations. However, we can assess for adaptive behavior including instruments approved for the DDA application. Please give us a call or reach out for more information or to schedule a consultation.

  • Typical Cost Range

    Our standard assessments for adults and children typically start around $1,800, depending on the type and depth of evaluation needed. Comprehensive neurocognitive and memory evaluations—which include more in-depth testing of attention, memory, and processing—start at $4,000. We also offer a brief IQ assessment for just $495, available through our doctoral training program.

    If cost is a barrier, sliding-scale options are available for certain evaluations through our training clinic. We’re committed to making high-quality, affirming care as accessible as possible.

  • Insurance

    We accept ComPsych with pre-approval; provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Giftedness-only evaluations require self-pay (no insurance). See our billing and payment page for more information.
