  • In-Person Testing: Cognitive testing session using gold-standard measures

FAQs


  • We use nationally recognized, research-supported tools to assess cognitive abilities. Depending on your child's age, the evaluation will typically include one of the following:

    • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V)

    • Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence – Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV)

  • Typically 1.5 - 2 hours is needed to complete the clinical interview and testing.

    • Complete Pre-Visit Forms: We will send you a link to our OpenWorld portal to complete forms about your child’s history.Rest and Nutrition: Ensure your child has a good night's sleep and a healthy meal before testing.

    • Comfort Items: Feel free to bring a favorite snack, water bottle, or comfort object.

    • Positive Framing: We recommend telling your child something like,
      "Everyone learns in different ways. Today we are going to find out how you learn best so we can find activities that are a good fit for you!"

    • No Practice Tests: Please avoid using online IQ tests or preparation apps, as this can interfere with the validity of the results.

  • We offer child IQ and giftedness evaluations at these locations:

    • Trainee Rate: $495 (available through our training program)
      Evaluations at this rate are conducted by advanced doctoral students under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

    • Licensed Psychologist Rate: Higher rates may apply if you prefer to schedule directly with a postdoctoral clinician or licensed psychologist.

    Payment is processed securely through our online patient portal.
    We do not accept insurance for giftedness-only evaluations.

  • Your feedback session is designed to thoroughly review your child’s results. You are always welcome to reach out afterward if new questions arise.
